Since the turn of the 21st century, the global pork industry has been affected by four major viral infections including ASF, which, since 2018, has been threatening Canada and other pork exporting countries. Martin Bonneau was raised on a pork farm in Quebec. He obtained his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Université de Montréal in 1992.
From 1997 to 2005, he was a Health and Production Director in a genetics company specialized in pork.
In 2005, he created Demeter Services Vétérinaires (DSV), in collaboration with other veterinarians. DSV now has a network of 20 veterinarians supervising more than 30% of the porks produced in Canada.
