To cause exudative epidermitis in piglets, the bacterium Staphylococcus hyicus uses true “molecular weapons” that allow it to attack the skin and evade the animal’s defenses. Because these weapons are still poorly understood, my project aims to identify the genes that give them their power, in order to better prevent these infections on farms.
